Sheikhupura
In a significant move against the corrupt mafia, Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura, Shahid Imran Marth, has ordered a major crackdown on the Revenue Department. Public circles have lauded DC Shahid Imran Marth for his “zero tolerance” policy against corruption.Following an inquiry, six officials and employees of the Sheikhupura Revenue Department have been arrested for corruption, forgery, and misuse of authority. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Division Sheikhupura registered the case on the formal complaint (mudaiyat) of the Deputy Commissioner. The arrested individuals include Girdawar Akram Shah, Patwari Sohail Virk, Tehsildar Reader Zahid Yaqub, private Munshi Muhammad Yasin (alias Goli), retired Senior Clerk Lal Din, and Special GPA Muhammad Imran Virk.According to details, the action was taken following the findings of an inquiry committee constituted by the Deputy Commissioner to investigate the illegal occupation of land through forged documents. The committee’s report confirmed the involvement of these officials in creating a fake order for the land of a well-known landlord, Kashan-ur-Rehman Raja, in Mauza Mad Wala Khurd.Upon discovering the fraud, Kashan-ur-Rehman Raja submitted a written complaint to DC Shahid Imran Marth, who immediately took notice and initiated the probe. CEO Integration Khawar Abbas stated that the accused were presented before the court of Senior Civil Judge Khuda Yar, where a one-day remand was granted.Sources indicate that this is the first time in the history of Sheikhupura that a Deputy Commissioner has appeared as a complainant (mudai) in such a high-profile corruption case. The accused reportedly used the pretext of the Patwar Act 1887 to prepare backdated eviction cases and fabricated records to facilitate illegal land occupation, despite existing stay orders from civil courts.
