Gas Crisis Intensifies in Sheikhupura: Citizens Protest as Cylinder Prices Skyrocket

Sheikhupura
Common citizens are severely affected by the continuous gas outages and exorbitant rates, with fears of further price hikes. According to details, the rising prices of gas in Sheikhupura city and its surrounding areas have created immense difficulties for domestic users, tandoor (traditional oven) owners, and hotel businesses, leading them to protest against the challenges facing their livelihoods.
The non-availability of gas is disrupting the preparation of “Naan” and “Roti,” while domestic kitchens have come to a standstill, making it difficult for citizens to meet their daily needs. Tandoor owners state that gas load shedding, low pressure, and the high cost of gas cylinders have pushed their businesses to the brink of collapse. They added that switching to alternative fuels has significantly increased expenses, making it impossible to sustain current operations. They warned that if the situation persists, an increase in the prices of Naan and Roti will become inevitable.
Currently, the price of domestic cylinders is beyond the reach of the average person, with LPG being sold at 500 to 550 rupees per kg. People are struggling to keep their households running by filling only one or two kilograms of gas at a time. The citizens have urged the authorities to resolve the gas issue immediately, as the public is already facing extreme hardships due to record-breaking inflation.
