Jennifer Lawrence is expanding her creative endeavors with A24, as the acclaimedactress is set to both star in and produce the adaptation of Paul B. Rainey’s graphic novel “Why Don’t You Love Me?”. Robert Funke, known for co-creating the dark comedy series “On Becoming a God in Central Florida,” is attached to write the screenplay.
The graphic novel, released in 2023, follows a married couple grappling with their relationship while experiencing a surreal shift in their reality. Lawrence and her production company, Excellent Cadaver, will join forces with Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Emily Hildner of Square Peg, as well as A24, to bring this comedic story to the screen.
This project marks another collaboration between Lawrence and A24, following her Golden Globe-nominated performance in “No Hard Feelings” and her starring role in “Causeway.” Lawrence has also been active as a producer, with Apple Studios recently acquiring the documentary “Bread & Roses,” which she produced.
A24, fresh off a new investment that values the company at $3.5 billion, is steadily expanding its slate of films. The studio recently released “MaXXXine” and acquired the horror package “Mice,” with David Bruckner attached to direct.
With Lawrence’s star power and Funke’s writing talent, “Why Don’t You Love Me?” promises to be a unique and engaging addition to A24’s growing portfolio.
