President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, warmly received President Aliyev at Nur Khan Airbase.
A 21-gun salute heralded the arrival of the Azerbaijani leader, with two children in traditional dress presenting bouquets to him.
During his visit, President Aliyev will engage in high-level discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. The discussions will cover a broad range of topics aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
“We are honoured to host President Aliyev,” said PM Shehbaz Sharif. “This visit signifies the strong bond between our two nations and our commitment to furthering mutual interests.”
President Asif Ali Zardari echoed these sentiments, stating, “Azerbaijan and Pakistan share a rich history of friendship. We look forward to enhancing our collaboration in various sectors.”
The visit is expected to result in the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to cement the partnership between the two countries.
