Brave Journalist Hafiz Usman Mughal Receives Life Threats After Breaking Corruption News of Adyala Jail’

RAWALPINDI: In a shocking turn of events, a known journalist of  District Rawalpindi Hafiz M Usman Mughal of 7 News has received life threats after breaking news of corruption in the Adyala Jail Prison. This news is particularly disturbing as it highlights an alarming lack of press freedom in Pakistan.

Hafiz M Usman Mughal was threatened with grave consequences for reporting on the corruption that he discovered during his investigations into Central Jail, Rawalpindi known as (Adyala Jail). He found evidence of millions of rupees being misused by prison officials and inmates being charged for basic amenities such as food and medical services. After he reported these findings, he received anonymous calls from people stating that his life would be in danger if he continued to report on this issue.

The story was published on 7 NEWS and exposed corruption in Adyala Jail Prison. It revealed how prisoners were being denied basic rights and privileges, and how criminal activities were rampant within the premises. Several eyewitnesses were interviewed and evidence was gathered to support the story.

While Talking to DAILY INFORMATION TIMES Mr. Mughal has stated that he will not back off from this story despite the threat to his life. He is determined to get justice for prisoners who are currently suffering due to corrupt officials. He hopes that this story will bring about real change in Adyala Jail Prison and other such institutions in Pakistan.

The authorities have been alerted and are conducting an investigation into the matter. Such threats against journalists are unacceptable and a violation of press freedom in Pakistan.

Inspector general (IG) of prisons has also noted malpractices and corruption in Adiala jail and expressed the apprehension that those inmates unable to bribe officials may turn violent at some point.
