Islamabad, Pakistan: A delegation of prominent journalists, led by President of PFUJ Workers Dr. Sadia Kamal and General Secretary of RIUJ Workers Syed Bilal Izzat Naqvi, visited Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada. Senior journalists Muneeb Bukhari and Rana Asif were also part of the delegation.
The meeting began with the delegation reciting Surah Fatiha to pay respects to the Minister’s late brother. The journalists conveyed their condolences and shared words of sympathy.
During the meeting, Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada commended the invaluable role of print media in Pakistani society. Highlighting its credibility, he remarked, “The ultimate source of reliable and respectful news is still print media, where language is refined, and professionalism is upheld. Unlike the growing trend in electronic and social media, where both the content and language often fall below standards, print media maintains its dignity.”
The Minister criticized the trend of disinformation and low-quality content in digital and social media, pointing out that PTI’s approach has significantly contributed to the use of inappropriate language, especially among youth and on digital platforms. He assured the delegation that the government is actively working to combat misinformation and disinformation to uphold media integrity and promote responsible journalism.
Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, who hails from a highly respected family with a distinguished career in public service, also expressed his commitment to working for the welfare and betterment of media professionals. He assured the delegation of continued support to improve working conditions and ensure the growth of responsible journalism in the country.
The delegation appreciated the Minister’s stance and his acknowledgment of the print media’s pivotal role in society. They also highlighted the challenges faced by journalists in the modern age, emphasizing the need for further cooperation between the government and media professionals.
The meeting concluded with mutual agreement on the importance of credible journalism and the necessity of preserving ethical standards in media across all platforms.
