ISLAMABAD, The Ministry of Information is pleased to announce the appointment of Shafqat Abbas, a distinguished officer of Grade 20 from the Information Group, as the Director General of the Press Information Department (PID) Regional Office in Lahore. His appointment, effective from July 15, 2024, is for an indefinite period, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career.
The appointment of honest and capable officers like Shafqat Abbas and Asim Khichi to key positions underscores the credibility and integrity of the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar. It reflects his commitment to transparency and professionalism, demonstrating that he is an honest leader dedicated to strengthening the ministry’s effectiveness.
Shafqat Abbas is recognized as one of the most experienced and capable officers within the Information Group. His extensive career includes serving in senior roles across various departments and agencies under the Ministry of Information. Previously, he held pivotal positions such as Director of Home Publicity at PID Islamabad, Deputy Director General at the Information Service Academy, and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Throughout his career, Shafqat Abbas has demonstrated exceptional leadership and communication skills. He has served as Public Relations Officer to former Prime Ministers Shaukat Aziz and Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani. Additionally, he has worked as Director/PSO in the Office of the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, further showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of public information.
Shafqat Abbas’s appointment as Director General in Lahore marks his return to a role he previously held, where he successfully contributed to the department’s growth and efficiency. His vast experience and strategic vision are expected to enhance the effectiveness and reach of the Press Information Department in Lahore.
