Islamabad – In a groundbreaking move to foster unity and solidarity within the journalist community, Pervaiz Shaukat, the esteemed President of PFUJ (Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists) Workers, has organized a two-day workshop on the 29th and 30th of August 2023. This workshop, seen as a vital step in bridging communication and knowledge gaps, is specially curated for journalists hailing from the far-flung districts of Baluchistan. In a show of inclusivity and unity, local journalists from Islamabad are also slated to partake in this enriching experience.
The vast terrains and unique socio-cultural landscapes of Baluchistan have often meant that journalists from this region face a set of challenges distinct from their counterparts in more urban settings. Recognizing the need to bring these journalists into the mainstream fold and to facilitate an exchange of experiences and skills, this workshop is indeed a much-needed initiative.
A day prior to the commencement of the workshop, journalists from Baluchistan, filled with anticipation and zeal, reached Islamabad. In a heartwarming display of hospitality, Pervaiz Shaukat and his diligent team at PFUJ Workers extended a warm welcome, setting a congenial tone for the days ahead.
Highlighting the significance of this event, the workshop will be inaugurated by none other than the PIO (Press Information Department) Muhammad Asim Khichi and the respected Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Sulangi. Their esteemed presence underscores the government’s support and acknowledgment of the crucial role played by journalists in shaping the nation’s discourse.
Commenting on the importance of the workshop, Mr. Shaukat said, “In these rapidly changing times, it’s imperative for our journalist community, especially those from remote areas, to feel connected, empowered, and unified. This workshop aims to be a catalyst for that unity and understanding.”
This initiative by Pervaiz Shaukat and the PFUJ Workers has been lauded by industry veterans and newcomers alike. It’s a timely reminder of the strength that lies in unity and collaboration, especially in a field as impactful and significant as journalism. As the workshop unfolds, there’s a palpable sense of hope and excitement in the air, signaling brighter days ahead for Pakistan’s journalistic fraternity.
