Islamabad. Former Interior minister and a political party head Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has filed a written complaint to police station kohsar islamabad, asking them to register a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown persons who are threatening him.
Sheikh Rashid told the police that he has been receiving death threats from unknown persons through different phone calls and text messages,
He said that these threateners want him to leave politics, otherwise they will kill him.
The police have registered the complaint and started an investigation into the matter. They are trying to trace the callers and identify the people behind these threats.
Sheikh Rashid is a well-known politician in Pakistan who has served as the Interior minister in the past. He is currently the head of his own political party, Awami Muslim League.
According to Raja Irfan Haider, a well-reputed legal adviser from Islamabad, has said that Sheikh’s application attracts offences under sections 506 and 25D of the Pakistan Penal Code. Haider made the remarks in an interview with Daily Information Times.Under section 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code, any person who makes a false accusation against another person with the intent to cause harm or damage to their reputation is liable to imprisonment for up to two years. Section 25D of the Pakistan Penal Code deals with Telegraph Act, making threatening calls for the purpose of life threat to another person.
