A man, in collusion with his wife and two friends, allegedly murdered his father for the possession of a flat in Karachi’s Surjani Town neighbourhood. Police have arrested all four suspects.
According to Daily Information Times, the body of 43-year-old Syed Shahid Ali was found in the bathroom of a flat in KDA Extension Phase 2, Surjani Town, on Monday night. The body showed signs of severe beating and hammer blows.
Shahid Ali, an employee of the Sindh Secretariat, had been dead for several days. Police registered a case under sections 302/34 at Surjani Town police station and commenced an investigation.
SSP West Hafeezur Rehman Bugti stated that Shahid Ali was murdered on the second day of Eid ul Adha, with the police being alerted after a foul smell emanated from the flat. During the investigation, police arrested the victim’s son Bilal, Bilal’s wife Mahnoor, and Bilal’s friends Ahmer and Inaam.
The murder weapon, a hammer, and the phone of the deceased were recovered, along with the curtain and sheet used to wrap the body.
SSP Bugti revealed that Shahid Ali had divorced his wife 14 years ago. Following the divorce, the son lived with his mother, who remarried a man named Nauman. Bilal, the son, later married and had two daughters, with his wife residing with her family. Bilal had no fixed abode and his father lived alone in the flat.
Bilal planned the murder with his wife and friends to acquire the flat for himself and promised his friends a share of his father’s pension.
On Eid ul Adha, Bilal visited his father along with his wife and summoned his friends. Following the plan, they murdered Shahid Ali and fled.
SSP Bugti reported that Bilal was attempting to flee the city when police apprehended him.
