PESHAWAR: Three people including two policemen were killed in separate incidents in Peshawar and Tank districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
A police constable, who was on polio security duty, was martyred when unidentified terrorists opened fire on him on the outskirts of Peshawar district on Tuesday morning.
Police collected evidence from the spot and opened investigation into the case covering different aspects.
Police told The Express Tribune that Constable Shah Nawaz, resident of Suliman Khel village, was on way to join duty on a motorcycle in the morning when terrorists attacked him in broad daylight. He died instantaneously.
The constable was on polio security duty in the Sara Khawora camp of Matni police station. Investigation officials recovered empty AK-47 casings from the crime scene and launched a manhunt. However, no arrests were made.
According to police, Constable Shah Nawaz had family feud with opponents Noor Ahmed and others. Apart from this, there was an argument between the two the previous morning and it is being speculated that his rivals reportedly opened fire, but it is too early to jump to any conclusion.
The funeral prayers of Shaheed Constable Shah Nawaz were offered with full guard of honors at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.
SSP Operations Kashif Zulfikar, SSP Investigation Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, SSP Coordination Muhammad Waqas Khan and other police officers and relatives of the martyr attended the last rites.
A contingent of police saluted the coffin wrapped in national flag while the police officers placed flowers on it and prayed for the departed soul.
The body of a veterinary assistant doctor who were abducted from Tank’s village of Tajuri, has been found. According to the Tank police, Dr. Arif, a resident of village Tajuri, was called to treat sick animals by unidentified men the other day and he had been missing since. His body was found near the Kari Shahnoor graveyard in the limits of Malazai police station. It was sent for autopsy and police registered an FIR.
Moreover, a policeman was killed when a tree fell on him at the police line due to heavy storm and strong winds and several vehicles were severely damaged.
The victim has been identified as Constable Farmanullah son of Saifullah, resident of Lundi Arbab who was seriously injured in the incident. The rescue teams shifted him to the hospital where he later died during treatment. He was posted in the DSP Security Office.
