Who will stand with King Charles on the balcony at Trooping the Colour in the absence of Kate?

Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Zara Tindall may join King Charles at the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday, June 15, due to the absence of Princess Kate.

According to the Daily Express, the Princess of Wales stepped back from public duties earlier this year following her cancer diagnosis and has not been seen in public in 2024 as she recuperates at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.

The annual event, which celebrates the monarch’s birthday, will see Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh in attendance, with King Charles already confirming his participation, the Daily Express reports.

Traditionally, under Queen Elizabeth II, extended members of the Royal Family, including non-working royals and their young children, would appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

However, since Prince Andrew’s removal from royal duties in 2019, King Charles has restricted non-working royals from the balcony at official events.

This policy was enforced during the 2023 Trooping the Colour and the Coronation, preventing Beatrice, Eugenie, and Zara from appearing on the balcony since 2019.

Due to Princess Kate’s absence, there is speculation that King Charles might reverse his stance to allow non-working royals to fill the space.

Additionally, it has been reported that Lady Gabriella Windsor will attend the Trooping the Colour celebrations, just months after the unexpected death of her husband, Thomas Kingston per the Daily Express.

Last week, Prince William invited his cousins Beatrice, Eugenie, Peter Phillips, Zara, and her husband Mike Tindall to a Buckingham Palace garden party, indicating a potential inclusion in future royal events.
