Gujranwala: Central accused in rape case injured in police encounter while trying to escape custody In the jurisdiction of Thana Saddar Kamoke, the main accused in the rape case of a 26-year-old mentally challenged girl, Adil, was injured in a police encounter while attempting to escape from police custody. According to the police, the accused, who was on physical remand, was being transported for further investigation when four unidentified armed men opened fire on the police party in an attempt to free him. Following retaliatory fire from the police, the accused Adil was recaptured in an injured condition, while his armed accomplices managed to flee the scene. CPO Dr. Sardar Ghias Gul Khan has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the SP Saddar Division. Special teams, under the supervision of SDPO Kamoke, have been constituted to apprehend the fleeing suspects, and security checkpoints (nakabandis) across the city have been tightened. The CPO stated, “The eradication of criminal elements is essential for the formation of a peaceful and safe society.”
