Under the “Good Governance” vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmed conducted a detailed early morning visit to various parts of the city today. The purpose of the visit was to personally review ongoing development projects, the state of cleanliness, monsoon arrangements, and measures taken to protect consumer rights. During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the sewerage project of the “Sohna Punjab Development Program” underway at Jinnah Road. Expressing his displeasure over the serious violation of safety SOPs during construction, he directed the MD WASA to immediately register a case against the responsible contractor. He reiterated his resolve that there would be no compromise on the safety of citizens’ lives and property. Later, while visiting Satellite Town, Sialkot Bypass, and Chachrewali Chowk, he assessed the measures taken for cleanliness and the removal of encroachments under the “Suthra Punjab” campaign. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure the restoration of pathways after development work so that the public does not face difficulties in commuting. In view of the monsoon rains, while inspecting the drainage system on Pasrur Road, the Deputy Commissioner reprimanded the officers over the poor cleaning of drains. He set a deadline for completing the desilting on an emergency basis and sought a progress report. Furthermore, to protect consumer rights, a surprise inspection of a petrol pump on Pasrur Road was conducted, where the quantity and prices of petroleum products were found to be satisfactory. Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed stated clearly that the district administration is fully mobilized to ensure transparency and the provision of quality facilities to the public in the city, and all departments must improve their performance.
