The water flow in the River Chenab is currently normal. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala/Wazirabad, Naveed Ahmed, accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Wazirabad, Jawad Hussain Pirzada, reviewed the protective embankments of the River Chenab and the arrangements made to deal with any potential flood situation. During the visit, officers from the Irrigation Department, Rescue 1122, Civil Defense, and other relevant institutions briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the flood contingency plan and the availability of resources. The Deputy Commissioner inspected the protective measures at 44 identified sensitive flood points in Wazirabad and termed the work satisfactory. The briefing stated that a comprehensive flood management plan has been formulated for 66 villages located near the River Chenab, which ensures evacuations, relief camps, and timely rescue operations. According to Irrigation Department officials, 131,000 cusecs of water is currently passing through the River Chenab, which is well within safe limits. Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed directed all departments to remain on high alert and ensure the availability of machinery and personnel for any emergency situation. He instructed the District Flood Coordination Committee to make mutual coordination more effective. Finally, he appealed to the citizens not to pay heed to flood-related rumors and to rely only on official information.
