Dua Bhutto seeking divorce demands Rs0.7m per month for expenses, child custody
KARACHI: The Family Court on Monday issued notices to Sindh Assembly Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on MPA Tahira Dua Bhutto’s divorce petition.
The divorce petition filed by Bhutto against Sheikh was heard by the family court in Karachi’s Malir. At the hearing, the court issued notices to Sheikh for November 29.
Bhutto has filed a maintenance application for divorce and child support and demanded Rs700,000 per month for her expenses.
She appealed to the court to grant her the child’s guardianship and allow her to take child to another country.
Sheikh confirmed his marriage to Dua Bhutto, a PTI MPA of the Sindh Assembly in September 2021. Sheikh said he had tied the knot with Dua after the 2018 elections.
The confirmation from Haleem came only after Dua posted her pictures with her newborn son on social media and revealed his name as Kamil Haleem Adil Sheikh.
However, the PTI leader had said that his marriage to Dua was his personal affair and had nothing to do with politics.
The marriage was kept under wraps for three years and came to the fore when MPA Dua Bhutto shared pictures of her newborn baby on social media. The pictures were from an event to celebrate the birth of the child, where the baby’s name — Kamil Haleem Sheikh — could be seen written in the backdrop.
