RAWALPINDI –On the sacred occasion of 4th Muharram-ul-Haram, a significant religious procession was held under the leadership of Farhan Jafri, the Bani (founder and organizer) of the Jaloos that began from Fida Qalandar House and concluded at Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Sajjad, Raja Iqbal Town, Rawalpindi.
This spiritually profound event attracted a large number of mourners, community leaders, and scholars from across the city. It stood as a powerful testament to the message of Karbala—truth, sacrifice, and steadfastness in the face of tyranny.
Farhan Jafri, a renowned journalist and social figure, has long been known not only for his professional integrity in the media world but also for his unwavering commitment to religious and community service. His efforts in organizing the 4th Muharram Majlis and Jaloos year after year reflect deep personal dedication and the legacy of a family rooted in Islamic scholarship and sacrifice.
Farhan Jafri comes from a highly respected and intellectual family of Rawalpindi:
- His father, Anwar Jafri, is a dignified figure known for his quiet strength, religious involvement, and support for Majalis and Islamic traditions.
- His uncle, Maj (R) Rafiq Jafri, delivered a moving speech during the Majlis, drawing powerful parallels between Mola Ali’s (AS) victory at Khyber and the current-day resistance led by Aal-e-Ali, specifically Syed Ali Khamenei, against oppression and injustice.
His other uncle, Prof. Dr. Maqsood Jafri, is a widely respected poet, philosopher, and Islamic scholar, whose literary and spiritual contributions are celebrated across the Muslim world.
His grandfather, the late Tehseen Jafri, was a distinguished bureaucrat of the 1960s, as well as a prolific writer who authored several books on Islam. Known for addressing Majalis without seeking financial benefit, he devoted his life to educating others about the true spirit of Islam and the message of Ahlul Bayt (AS).
Farhan Jafri has not only upheld this noble legacy but is actively carrying it forward with vision and humility. His work in journalism reflects courage, truth, and responsibility—values deeply aligned with the teachings of Imam Hussain (AS). His organizational efforts during Muharram demonstrate his commitment to preserving and promoting the message of Karbala for future generations
The peaceful and dignified conclusion of the 4th Muharram Jaloos at Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Sajjad was a tribute to the strength of unity within the Shia community of Rawalpindi, and a clear reflection of Farhan Jafri’s disciplined, respectful leadership.
In these difficult times, individuals like Farhan Jafri and his esteemed family are keeping alive the spirit of resistance, knowledge, and faith that defines the legacy of Karbala.
