GUJRANWALA: In line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s initiatives—”Suthra Punjab”, “Sohna Punjab”, and the Punjab Development Programme (PDP)—Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gujranwala, Naveed Ahmad, conducted an extensive early morning tour of various parts of the city.
During his visit, he reviewed cleanliness arrangements, prices of essential commodities (particularly roti and naan), waste management, sewerage and drainage projects, and ongoing road rehabilitation works.
Key Highlights of the Visit:

Special Cleanliness Operation in Wanyawala Main Bazar
Under the “Suthra Punjab” campaign, the Deputy Commissioner visited Wanyawala Main Bazar to inspect the ongoing special cleanliness operation.
Inspections Made: He verified the attendance of sanitary staff, the availability of machinery, and the waste disposal process.
Public Feedback: DC Naveed Ahmad interacted with local residents on-site to get first-hand feedback regarding the municipal facilities and cleanliness.
Directives Issued: He directed the relevant officers to ensure uniform cleanliness standards across both urban and rural areas, emphasizing that commercial centers, streets, and public spaces must remain clean 24/7

Inspection of Kacha Eminabad Road Waste Collection Point
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the waste collection point on Kacha Eminabad Road.
While expressing overall satisfaction with the cleanliness of the road and its surrounding areas, he directed that garbage must be disposed of timely.
He ordered the waste collection points to be managed more efficiently, stating that no compromise would be tolerated on the beauty and cleanliness of the city’s roads.

Price Control & Public Relief: Surprise Visits to Tandoors
To ensure direct relief to the public, DC Naveed Ahmad made surprise visits to various tandoors at Wanyawala and Sialkot Bypass.
Weight & Price Check: He strictly checked the weight and official price lists of both roti and naan.
Consumer Interaction: He spoke to customers present at the shops to confirm if they were getting these essentials at the government-notified rates.
Warning: He warned tandoor owners that any negligence in maintaining the prescribed weight or overcharging would result in strict legal action.

Sialkot Road to Fatomand Chowk Road Rehabilitation
The DC reviewed the road restoration and reconstruction work following the completion of the WASA sewerage scheme from Sialkot Road to Fatomand Chowk, executed under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP).
He gave clear instructions to the contractors and WASA officials to complete the remaining construction work within the specified timeframe, ensuring top-tier quality and foolproof safety measures for the convenience of commuters.

Mega Sewerage Project at Ratta Jhal Upper Chenab Canal
He also visited the site of the mega WASA sewerage and drainage project under the “Sohna Punjab Development Programme” (PDP) at Ratta Jhal, Upper Chenab Canal.
After inspecting the pace and quality of the field operations, he urged the officers to expedite the completion of this mega-project so that the citizens of Gujranwala can benefit from a modern, sustainable, and effective drainage system as soon as possible.
