RAWALPINDI –The Majlis and Jaloos of 4th Muharram-ul-Haram, organized by Farhan Jafri, commenced from Fida Qalandar House and concluded at Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Sajjad, Raja Iqbal Town, Rawalpindi. This annual religious procession, deeply rooted in devotion and remembrance of the martyrs of Karbala, drew a large and passionate gathering of mourners.
Central highlight of the event was the emotionally charged and insightful address delivered by Major (R) Rafiq Jafri, a respected Islamic speaker and community elder. He spoke at length about the eternal lessons of Imam Hussain (AS), whose ultimate sacrifice continues to inspire generations.
“Imam Hussain (AS) followed the path of his grandfather Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) and his father Hazrat Imam Ali (AS). He taught us that the Will of Allah (SWT) stands above all—beyond personal desires, beyond wealth, and even above the love for one’s own family,” stated Maj (R) Rafiq Jafri.
In his address, he powerfully recalled the heartrending sacrifices of Shahzada Ali Asghar (AS), only six months old, and Shahzada Ali Akbar (AS), just eighteen, both offered in the name of Allah without hesitation. “Despite the unbearable pain, Imam Hussain (AS) never considered turning back,” he added.
Maj (R) Rafiq Jafri also drew a thought-provoking parallel between the Battle of Khyber, where Mola Ali (AS) emerged victorious against tyranny, and the current-day resistance in the Middle East. He emphasized that just as Mola Ali (AS) defeated the forces of Yahood at Khyber, today it is Syed Ali Hosseini Khamenei—from the Aal-e-Mola Ali—who stands tall against Israel and other powers aligned against Islam.
“The family of Sadat has stood firm for the protection of Islam since its earliest days. It is now the duty of all Islamic nations to unite and protect our shared faith against all threats,” he urged.
Maj (R) Rafiq Jafri is the son of the late Tehseen Jafri, a renowned bureaucrat of the 1960s and a prolific writer on Islamic philosophy and history. He devoted his life to promoting Majalis and educating the community about the real essence of Islam, without ever seeking financial reward.
Also present at the event were his scholarly brothers — Prof. Dr. Maqsood Jafri, a noted poet and intellectual, and Anwar Jafri, father of Farhan Jafri and a deeply respected figure in the religious and social circles of the region. The Jafri family has long played a vital role in the organization of Majalis and Jaloos across Rawalpindi and beyond.
The event concluded peacefully with the Jaloos arriving at Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Sajjad, echoing the timeless message of Karbala—resistance, sacrifice, and unwavering faith
