Towards a brighter future for media: Top-tier meeting between Mr. Zahoor Ahmad and PFUJ leadership


 

ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting took place today between Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, the Federal Secretary of Information and Broadcasting and MD PTV, and a delegation from the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Workers (PFUJ). The delegation was led by its esteemed president, Mr. Pervaiz Shaukat, accompanied by senior union leaders, Syed Bilal Izzat Naqvi and Syed Muneeb Bukhari.

The agenda for the meeting revolved around pressing issues affecting journalists and media workers across the country. Central to the discussions were the ongoing challenges of non-payment of salaries and recent layoffs within the media sector. The delegation also raised a strong demand for the withdrawal of a case lodged against senior journalist, Mr. Khalid Jamil.

Federal Secretary Zahoor Ahmad, recognized for his integrity and deep understanding of the journalistic landscape, paid close attention to the concerns presented. He expressed his commitment to seeking effective solutions and ensuring the welfare of the journalistic community.

President of PFUJ Workers, Mr. Pervaiz Shaukat, renowned for his tireless advocacy for journalists’ rights, emphasized the importance of safeguarding the interests of the media fraternity. He reiterated his commitment to working closely with all stakeholders, ensuring a secure and promising future for journalism in Pakistan.
