Gujranwala (July 17): Commissioner Gujranwala Division, Muhammad Ali, has issued strict directives to ensure that petrol pumps adhere to quality standards, accurate measurement, and official codes of conduct. He emphasized that providing quality fuel to the public and establishing a transparent business environment in the market remains the top priority of the district administration.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the division’s Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) via video link, where the performance of the ongoing petrol pump inspection campaign and future strategies were reviewed. Commissioner Muhammad Ali directed all relevant officers to conduct surprise field inspections of petrol pumps, stating that negligence regarding measurement accuracy, fuel quality testing, safety arrangements, and compliance with official price lists will not be tolerated.
“Protecting consumer rights is our responsibility,” the Commissioner stressed, adding that the objective of transparent monitoring is to restore public trust and eliminate elements like profiteering and adulteration. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against petrol pump owners found in violation, and the timely submission of all inspection reports is mandatory.
