ISLAMABAD: In a disturbing 24-hour spree, bandits in Islamabad have intensified their criminal activities, impacting numerous citizens across the city. Reports reveal a significant surge in street crimes, with victims losing two vehicles, six motorcycles, 14 cell phones, and various other valuables including gold jewelry and substantial amounts of cash.
In one notable incident, Shahid Mehmood was robbed of Rs2 million at gunpoint in the Gandum Godam area within the Sabzi Mandi police jurisdiction. The confrontation escalated when Mehmood resisted, resulting in his injury from a gunshot. Similarly, Ahmad Mohdullah encountered armed robbers on motorcycles who forcibly took his mobile phone at Chongi No 26.
The spree of thefts continued with reports from the Shalimar and Kohsar police sectors. Dr. Jahanzaib reported a theft of Rs200,000 by his maid, Nisha Khalid. Others, including Mustafa Shah and Hussain Akhtar, reported mobile phone thefts from public areas. Additionally, a break-in at Mubashir Imtiaz’s shop in Rehman Arcade led to the theft of a stitch overlock machine.
Further incidents compounded the city’s woes. Ehsan Elahi reported the theft of a cage on Kallar Syedan Road, while Jameel Akhtar and Muhammad Hussain Akhtar were victims of mobile phone snatchings. Thefts were also reported by Tahir Mehmood Awan and Mujtaba Hussain, who were robbed in different police precincts under similar circumstances.
In an unfortunate string of robberies, Muhammad Asif and Tauqeer Asghar both lost their mobile phones in Sector G-9/2, reported to the Karachi Company police. Additionally, Raja Syam Qamar Jaral reported the theft of a diamond ring, highlighting the brazenness of these criminals.
Police have registered all reported cases and initiated thorough investigations to address the rising tide of crime in the capital, promising increased vigilance and efforts to curb this alarming trend.
