Hand grenade attack injures three in Gwadar

At least three people sustained injuries in a hand grenade attack that occurred on Friday in the Gwadar district of Balochistan, according to police sources.

The incident unfolded when unidentified miscreants threw a hand grenade at a garage situated on Syed Hashmi Road in the port city.

Swift response from law enforcement and rescue teams saw the injured promptly transported to the Indus Hospital Gwadar for medical attention. The police sources added that the perpetrators managed to escape unscathed.

An investigation into the incident is underway. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with police unable to ascertain it immediately

The Gwadar district has witnessed some incidents of violence in recent times, raising concerns about the security situation in the region.

In August, security forces killed two terrorists in a swift response to an attack on a military convoy in Gwadar, hours after a soldier was martyred.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the military, the terrorists attacked the military convoy in Gwadar at 10am using small arms and hand grenades.

“Due to efficient and swift response, two terrorists were sent to hell with no harm to any military or civil persons,” it said, adding that the security forces were determined to thwart the enemy to ensure peace and prosperity in the country.

The attack targeted Chinese passengers travelling from Gwadar airport towards a construction site in the port area, according to the Chinese embassy in Islamabad as well as its consulate general in Karachi.
