Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Inspects City Areas to Ensure Cleanliness and Development Under “Suthra Punjab” Program Carrying forward Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of providing high-quality municipal services and a clean environment to citizens under the “Suthra Punjab” program, Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala, Naveed Ahmed, conducted a surprise early morning visit to various parts of the city. During the visit, he meticulously reviewed sanitation arrangements, solid waste management, and ongoing sewerage and drainage development works, issuing immediate directives to the relevant departments. Inspection of Zia-ul-Haq Road: The Deputy Commissioner began his visit by inspecting Zia-ul-Haq Road (near District Courts), where he expressed severe displeasure over scattered garbage and poor sanitation arrangements. He strictly instructed the concerned contractor to immediately streamline the cleaning system and remove the garbage heaps, warning that strict legal action would be taken in case of any negligence. Visits to Sialkot Road, Dastgir Road, and Satellite Town: Afterwards, he paid a detailed visit to Sialkot Road, Dastgir Road, and Satellite Town. During these visits, he reviewed the schedule for lifting garbage from streets, main thoroughfares, green belts, and residential areas. The Deputy Commissioner made it clear that the cleanliness of main roads must be ensured at all costs, and sanitation gangs should remain active across multiple shifts. Kashmir Road and Surrounding Localities: While visiting Kashmir Road and adjacent localities, he expressed frustration over irresponsible field staff, directing that waste collection from homes be conducted regularly and departmental action be taken against those showing laxity. He emphasized that providing a clean environment to citizens is the primary responsibility of the administration. Sewerage and Drainage Upgrade Project: Inspecting the ongoing sewerage and drainage upgrade project from Kacha Aimanabad Road to Pepli Wala Pul under the Punjab Development Program, he instructed WASA authorities to complete the construction work within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high quality to permanently resolve drainage issues. Kashmir Road Pothole Inspection: Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner personally inspected a pothole that had formed on Kashmir Road due to recent heavy rains. To prevent any untoward incident, that section of the road was immediately closed on a temporary basis, while WASA and the Highways Department were directed to complete repair work on an emergency basis as soon as possible.
