Gujranwala: The 164th monthly review meeting of the District Quality Control Board (DQCB) was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmed. CEO Health Dr. Umar Sharif Rathore, Secretary DQCB Madam Sonia, drug inspectors from all towns, and other relevant department officers attended the meeting, where a total of 23 cases were heard.
Taking strict decisions against severe violations, the meeting approved sending cases of 11 individuals to the Drug Court for legal action. Additionally, warnings were issued in 4 cases upon fulfillment of legal requirements and assurance of cautious behavior in the future, 2 cases were dismissed, and 6 cases were deferred until the next meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed stated that under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s good governance initiatives, the ongoing crackdown against medical stores operating without drug sale licenses or qualified staff, sellers of expired and fake medicines, and quack clinics will be further intensified and made more effective. He clarified that no leniency will be shown regarding human health and the protection of lives.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all drug inspectors, assistant commissioners, and deputy district health officers to remain active in the field and ensure that no pharmacy or medical store in the district operates without qualified staff and in violation of SOPs. He stated that the district administration will never allow anyone to play with the lives of citizens, while fully encouraging those conducting business honestly within the boundaries of the law.
