The 720th annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia (RA) took place in New Delhi with the participation of a group of 94 Pakistani Zaireen (pilgrims) on Friday.
As per the Pakistan High Commission in India, a significant moment occurred when Aizaz Khan, the Pakistani Charge d’Affaires, paid his respects at the revered dargah of the 14th-century Sufi saint belonging to the Chishtia lineage.
Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia is celebrated for his timeless message of love, peace, and brotherhood.
During the commemoration, Charge d’Affaires Aizaz Khan, representing the people and Government of Pakistan, presented a traditional chaddar as a symbol of reverence at the dargah. This gesture was accompanied by special prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, emphasising the spiritual significance of the occasion.
Upon their arrival at the dargah, the Charge d’Affaires and the Pakistani pilgrims received a warm welcome from Sajjadah Nasheen (current custodian of the shrine) Dewan Syed Tahir Nizami and other prominent members of the Dargah Committee. Nizami personally performed the dastaarbandi, the traditional turban-tying ceremony, for the Charge d’Affaires.
In addition, the visiting pilgrims paid a visit to the Dargah of Hazrat Amir Khusro (RA), located within the same compound, where they offered their prayers.
Following this, representatives of the pilgrims held a separate meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires at the Pakistan Mission, expressing their gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the High Commission for their instrumental support in facilitating the pilgrimage.
The Pakistani pilgrims are in New Delhi from October 31 to November 8, 2023, to participate in the annual Urs Mubarak. They attend this event under the 1974 India-Pakistan protocol on visits to religious shrines.
