PTI submitted in the petition that despite being the largest political party, they are not allowed to hold a public gathering.

It also added that the permission is denied on political grounds however, the constitution allows peaceful protest and public gatherings.

PTI also challenged the repeated imposition of Section 144 to prevent the party from holding an election campaign for Punjab elections.

The party maintained that the implementation of Section 144 in the province is ‘unconstitutional’ and ‘violation of fundamental rights’.

“The court should declare the enforcement of Section 144 null and void and issue an order to allow PTI to hold a rally,” the petition demanded.

PTI is to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore and permission is being denied to the party.
