Islamabad: Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi, the former Deputy Mayor and a prominent leader of the Muslim League-N, has emerged as the most active political figure in Islamabad, demonstrating exceptional dedication and selflessness during the recent Eid al-Adha celebrations. Despite the festivities, Naqvi took it upon himself to ensure the welfare and cleanliness of the city.
During the first three days of Eid, Naqvi personally conducted tours across various sectors of Islamabad, leading a comprehensive campaign to rid the city of dirt and waste. He meticulously assessed the establishment of animal remains collection points in sectors under his supervision, as well as in rural areas. His hands-on approach and attention to detail have earned him immense admiration from the public.
An astonishing total of 130,000 small and large animals were sacrificed throughout the city during the three-day festival. As a result, a significant amount of waste, weighing approximately 2,300 tons, was generated. To tackle this challenge, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) set up over 45 burial sites in more than 97 locations for the proper disposal of animal remains. Citizens were encouraged to register complaints at 1334 and 9213908 to facilitate the collection process.
The cleanliness operation involved the participation of over 2,500 dedicated employees and utilized more than 150 modern vehicles. This concerted effort effectively ensured the successful execution of the campaign, leaving the city in a pristine state. Naqvi wholeheartedly commended the efforts of the CDA and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), recognizing their significant contributions to the cause.
Naqvi’s commitment to serving the community was exemplified by his active involvement in the cleanliness and sanitation initiatives throughout Eid al-Adha. He toured various sectors of Islamabad, including the upscale areas, closely monitoring the progress and effectiveness of the cleanliness activities. Alongside the CDA officials, Naqvi personally supervised the operation, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of government employees. Their morale was boosted by his words of appreciation and support.
In his address to the public, Syed Zeeshan Naqvi emphasized that maintaining the city’s beauty and cleanliness is a shared responsibility. The city and rural areas witnessed remarkable arrangements and exceptional sanitation measures during Eid al-Adha. Thousands of tons of waste were collected and disposed of appropriately in designated burial sites.
The CDA staff, driven by their dedication and commitment, worked tirelessly to ensure a clean and pollution-free environment throughout Eid al-Adha. On the third day of Eid, while residents of Islamabad and rural areas were engaged in sacrificing animals, Naqvi remained actively involved. He conducted tours in rural areas, closely monitoring the progress and ensuring that waste management was effectively carried out. The CDA staff continued their relentless efforts to maintain cleanliness on this day as well. The administrative measures implemented by the CDA throughout the three-day festival successfully addressed waste disposal concerns across the city. Dividing the city into four different zones enabled efficient and targeted action. More than 2,500 employees, supported by over 150 modern vehicles, were instrumental in the overall success of the cleanliness operation.
The cancellation of leaves for the concerned staff on the occasion of Eid al-Adha further exemplifies the collective commitment to maintaining cleanliness and order. On the first day of Eid, an impressive number of over 94,000 small and large animals were sacrificed in Islamabad. Approximately 52,000 small animals and 42,000 large animals were included in this count. The total weight of waste generated on the first day alone amounted to an estimated 1,676.552 tons.
