Gujranwala: July 14, 2026 (Handout) – Under the good governance initiatives and “Sohna Punjab” vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmed, accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Nowshera Virkan Sadia Jamal, conducted a detailed visit to Tehsil Nowshera Virkan. During the visit, he inspected the under-construction building of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) force, the Children’s Park, the Model Bazaar, the Misaali Gaon (Model Village) Kurralke, the ongoing beautification project on Sheikhupura Road, and measures taken to protect consumer rights at petrol pumps.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected the under-construction building of the PERA force, where relevant officers provided a detailed briefing on the project’s progress and construction quality. He directed that the project be completed within the stipulated timeframe with high standards so that the PERA force can have access to modern office facilities, ensuring the provision of transparent and timely services to the public.
Later, he visited the under-construction Children’s Park, where he was briefed on the landscaping, walking track, children’s swings, and green areas. The Deputy Commissioner directed that all work be completed on time to provide an excellent recreational environment for children and the local residents.
Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed also visited the Model Bazaar in Nowshera Virkan and reviewed the ongoing renovation work under the “Sohna Punjab” vision. He inspected the cleanliness, lighting, tuff tiles, and encroachment removal, directing that the bazaar’s order and discipline be maintained on a permanent basis.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the development work underway at Kurralke under the “Misaali Gaon” project. The AC Nowshera Virkan and Urban Unit officers reported that work on street paving and the modern sewerage system is progressing rapidly. The Deputy Commissioner directed that this project be completed on schedule so that Kurralke can emerge as a model village under the “Sohna Punjab” project. On this occasion, he also inspected the beautification project of painting street light poles on Sheikhupura Road.
In the final phase of the visit, the Deputy Commissioner paid a surprise visit to the Zoom Filling Station located on Mari Bhandran Road to check measurements and the implementation of OGRA rate lists, which were found to be completely accurate. He made it clear that short-measuring or violations of official price lists will not be tolerated, and all Assistant Commissioners should continue regular checks of petrol pumps.
Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed stated that, in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the timely completion of development projects, improvement of urban and rural infrastructure, and transparent governance are the top priorities of the district administration, for which all relevant institutions are working actively.
