Gujranwala (Report: Hafiz Abdul Waheed / Muhammad Usman, Special Correspondent): CEO of GWMC and MD of “Suthra Punjab” Agency Gujranwala, Abdul Razzaq Dogar, paid an emergency visit to various parts of the city following the recent monsoon rains. The purpose of the visit was to assess the post-rain situation, specifically to check drainage operations and waste management performance.
The CEO inspected several low-lying areas, including the railway track, Mohalla Shamsabad, Mohalla Pondanwala, and Haidari Road. He directed the authorities to ensure the immediate drainage of rainwater, accelerate the desilting (cleaning) process of drains and nullahs, and timely lift the garbage accumulated around railway crossings. He appreciated the performance of the field sanitation staff and urged them to work with even more dedication and hardliners.
On this occasion, CEO Abdul Razzaq Dogar issued strict instructions to officers that no negligence would be tolerated during the monsoon season. He stated that timely desilting of drains must be ensured so that the flow of rainwater is not obstructed, and all machinery and manpower should remain mobilized at all times. He added that maintaining the cleaning standards of streets and markets is a top priority, and timely transfer of garbage must be ensured.
The CEO expressed his resolve that under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of “Suthra Punjab,” all available resources are being utilized to make Gujranwala a clean and beautiful city. He said that our goal is to provide citizens with a clean, safe, and healthy environment even after the rains, and all relevant departments are fully active in the field with complete coordination in this regard.
